Candidate shortlist in 1 hour: how it works and when it applies
· 4 min read · By Million Talents AI
A candidate shortlist in 1 hour means that, for eligible roles, Million Talents AI returns matched, recruiter-checked profiles within an hour of receiving your brief. Each profile shows a one-line fit summary, current CTC, expected CTC and notice period, so you can decide who to take forward the same day.
Here is what happens in that hour, which briefs qualify, how to write a brief that is ready for a fast shortlist, and what happens after.
What happens in the hour
1. You send the brief. Share the job description, the budget in ₹, the location and the must-have skills by form, email or WhatsApp.
2. AI matches across the network. AI ranks profiles from our pan-India network against the brief on skills, experience and context, not keywords alone. The network covers metro and tier-2 cities, for on-site, hybrid and remote roles.
3. A recruiter checks every match. A recruiter who knows the role reviews each profile before it reaches you, and removes any that look right on paper but miss a must-have, the budget or the location.
4. The shortlist reaches you. Each profile carries a one-line fit summary, current CTC, expected CTC and notice period. With salary and notice up front, you only spend time on candidates who fit.
Reply with the profiles you want to take forward, and add a line on any you passed over. That feedback shows the recruiter what the brief left out and sharpens the next set of matches.
Which briefs qualify
The one-hour shortlist has clear conditions, and it helps to know them before you send a brief.
It applies to eligible roles and to briefs received during business hours, and it is subject to matching candidate availability. For niche or senior roles, a timeline is agreed up front instead.
Eligible roles are those with a clear job description and a realistic budget, for skill sets our recruiters actively hire for. If you are unsure whether a role qualifies, ask when you send the brief.
What makes a brief shortlist-ready
Most delays come from a brief that leaves recruiters guessing. Before you send one, check that it covers each of these.
Role: the job title, level and number of openings.
Skills: the must-haves, listed separately from the nice-to-haves.
Experience: the range in years, and any industry background that matters.
Budget: the CTC range in ₹, and whether it is fixed or has some room.
Location: the city and the work mode, whether on-site, hybrid or remote.
Timing: the longest notice period you can accept and your target joining date.
Process: the interview rounds and who makes the final decision.
A brief like this can still be short. For example: 20 field sales executives in Bengaluru, 1 to 4 years of experience, a two-wheeler and fluency in the local language, incentive-led pay, with the CTC range in ₹ and the longest notice period you can accept.
If all you have is one line about the role, the AI Hiring Blueprint in Million Talents AI can first turn it into a hiring plan with an editable job description.
What happens after the shortlist
The shortlist is the start of screening, not the end. Pick the profiles you like, and they move into Three-Layer Screening the same day.
Three-layer screening means an AI review of the CV against your must-haves, an AI interview with role-specific questions and a practical test, such as a coding task, a sales role-play or a spreadsheet test. An experienced recruiter then reviews all three and confirms fit.
The AI interview can be an AI voice interview, a first-round call in English with a written report, or an AI video interview, with recorded answers scored with timestamps. You can watch the recordings before you commit a panel slot.
Finally, your panel meets the shortlisted candidates in a live final interview on Video Meetings, and you make the hiring decision.
When a longer timeline is agreed instead
Some searches should not be rushed. For niche or senior roles, and for confidential searches, we agree a delivery timeline with you up front rather than promise an hour. The rest stays the same: matched, recruiter-checked profiles with current CTC, expected CTC and notice period, followed by three-layer screening.
If we cannot find suitable matches within the hour for an eligible brief, we tell you within the hour, explain why and give you a committed delivery time. We would rather send fewer, better profiles than pad the list to beat the clock.
A longer timeline also makes sense when the budget is below what the skill set commands, or when the must-haves are still being decided. A short call to sharpen the brief usually saves more time than a fast list of near misses.

Questions employers ask
Include the job title and number of openings, the must-have skills, the experience range, the budget in ₹, the location and work mode, and the longest notice period you can accept. You can send it by form, email or WhatsApp. The clearer the must-haves and budget, the faster recruiters can match and check profiles.
They are matched by AI against your brief and checked by a recruiter before they reach you, with current CTC, expected CTC and notice period on each profile. Full screening comes next: the profiles you pick go through three-layer screening, with an AI CV review, an AI interview and a practical test, followed by a recruiter review.
The one-hour window applies to briefs received during business hours, Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm IST. It covers eligible roles and depends on matching candidates being available. For niche or senior roles, a timeline is agreed with you up front.
