How the skills test works
Select candidates on a requirement in the Advanced ATS, or ask the Talents AI chat, and choose Skills test. The test is written once per requirement, so every candidate for that role answers the same questions.
- Input: the job description from your AI Hiring Blueprint, or your own
- Talents AI writes 10–20 questions, each with four options and a skill tag
- Each candidate gets a link by email or WhatsApp, valid for 7 days and extendable
- The candidate gives consent, presses start and the timer begins
- On submit the test is scored, and the result goes to your recruiters, not the candidate
What you see in the result
Each result shows the score, the percentage, a band (strong, good, fair or weak), the score per skill and a short summary. You can also open every question to see the candidate’s answer and whether it was correct.
The candidate moves to Screened automatically, with a note such as “Skills test completed: 70% (good)”. The recruiter who sent the test gets a notification and an email when the result is ready.
Where it fits in the AI Hiring Suite
The AI Skills Assessment usually comes first, straight after the AI Hiring Blueprint and before the AI Tech Assessment, AI Voice Interview and AI Final Video Interview. Any combination works, for example a skills test followed by an AI voice interview for the top scorers.
As an online skills assessment for teams hiring across India, it is the low-cost filter: candidates take it on their own phone with no login, and only those who show the basics move on to the steps that cost more.
Credits and cost
AI Skills Assessment is ₹399 per user a month, or ₹3,830 a year with annual billing (20% off), and it is part of the AI Hiring Suite. Each test uses 2 credits, charged when the link is sent: on the 1,500-credit pack (₹2,499), about ₹3.33 per candidate before GST. Cancel a link the candidate never opened and the credits come back.
The 15-day free trial comes with 90 credits to spend on tests and the other AI steps (2 credits per test). A candidate who already has an open test for the role is never sent or charged a second one.
Fairness and human control
Every candidate for a role gets the same questions, timed the same way and marked against the same answer key, so results are comparable. There is no judgement call in the marking itself.
A score is evidence, not a decision. Nothing is rejected automatically: your recruiters read the per-skill picture and decide who moves on. A candidate who scores low on one skill may still suit a role where you can train it.
When to use a pre-employment skills test
Use it early, when you have more applicants than you can call. Typical skill areas by role:
- Customer support: written English, ticket handling, empathy and support tools
- Sales: product knowledge, objection handling and basic numbers
- Accountants: GST basics, reconciliations and Excel
- Software developers: language and framework fundamentals
- Operations: process steps, scheduling and data accuracy
